chinese herbal medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicines use natural substances such as plants and minerals to treat a wide range of health conditions and are a great way to support your overall health & well-being. Herbs are an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a medicine system that has been practiced for thousands of years in conjunction with Acupuncture & other TCM modalities.

Herbs are used in combinations to address specific health problems. The formulas are tailored to each individual, based on their specific symptoms and constitution. Chinese herbs come in a range of options from the more potent raw herbs and granules to tinctures, pills, capsules, and herbal teas. Herbal medicine can support common ailments such as allergies, colds, and flu, as well as more complex health conditions such as skin, digestive, or menstrual cycle imbalances.

ABOUT THE MEDICINE

Raw herbs refer to dried plant materials, including roots, leaves, stems, flowers, and seeds, that are used in their natural, unprocessed state. These herbs are the fundamental components used to create our herbal formulas. They are selected and combined based on your specific Chinese medicine diagnosis. Raw herbs are the most powerful way to take your herbal medicine, however, they do take some time to prepare. The boiling process takes about one hour to complete, and the end product lasts for approximately two to three days. People who enjoy this ritual get great benefits from committing to it, however, we understand this may not be for everyone.

Granules are the powdered version of the raw herbs, which have been finely ground so that you can add them to warm water and drink - a popular, quick, and easy solution to taking your herbs daily.

Other options are a variety of pills, capsules, and tinctures you can take if raw or granulated herbs just aren't for you. We can discuss all of the options available in your appointment and choose the type that will work best for you.
